Our comrades in Italy, USI, recently joined calls for a massive late-September general strike in the country in solidarity with the Gaza flotilla and the Palestinian people. The mobilisations on the 22nd of September saw huge rallies across many cities and towns and the united demand that the Italian government stop selling weapons to Israel.
Now, in view of the recent developments at sea and the latest military actions by the Israeli government (which stopped the ships in the flotilla from going forward, delivering its much needed help and opening a humanitarian corridor to Gaza), a joint general strike has been called for tomorrow (3rd of October). As they themselves say: “USI-CIT will take part in all solidarity actions with the Palestinian people and in all grassroot initiatives that aim to put an end to the genocide”. Therefore, our comrades are joining the call to stop all economic cooperation between the Italian government and the state of Israel, and for workers to boycott these ties and to prevent the shipment of weapons and military aid by picketing ports and other infrastructures.
This is only the start of a state of general mobilisation! Best of lucks in achieving this important humanitarian goal!
