ICL sections gear up for Mayday!

OUR SECTIONS AND FRIENDS ACROSS THE WORLD ARE PEPARING FOR MAYDAY 2025

The 1st of May 2025 is around the corner and our sections and friends from across the globe are preparing to mark workers’ day. Either joining with other unions and organisations or by ourselves, we will take to the streets of a planet that is in desperate need of a healthy dose of class war struggle.

Indeed, at a time when many seem to be embracing the allure of right-wing populism in the ballots, it is more necessary than ever to provide real solutions to real problems, not the kind of empty rhetoric that gets politicians elected. Let’s be clear, the difficulties of the working class are undeniable and are global in many respects. Low and stagnant wages, huge inequality, inflation, eroded health systems, a climate emergency… But the solutions touted by politicians and bosses won’t sort anything out. Fighting each other for the crumbs only allows them to get away with the cake!

It is not a matter of voting someone in or out, but of waging a veritable class war against the rich and powerful of this world, through international solidarity and class struggle. Mayday 2025 will see a global network of initiatives and rallies so large that we won´t even try to mention all of them here (check out instead with your local ICL section to learn the details or follow the links below). However, despite the large number of specific local issues that will see our members out in the streets, there’s an underlying theme that will unite all the protests: as workers we share a common position in the production chain, regardless of race, place of origin, orientation of any kind, etc., and that is international, it goes over the borders. We also share a common enemy as class: bosses and politicians. Happy Mayday 2025, everyone.

Most of our sections and friends have put out their calls and statements for Mayday.

Many are endorsing the Global Mayday call, like USI, IWW Nara and Wisera or CNT-F, . While not an ICL initiative as such, many of our sections are also part of it, among many other international working class organisations not affiliated to ICL: Global May Day 2025 | Global May Day

Others have released their own statements, like CNT-S: Que trabajen ellos, por un empleo que no nos robe la vida – Confederación Nacional del Trabajo.

Or are calling a number of rallies, like FORA: Acto 1ro de Mayo – FORA or FAU: Am 1. Mai 2025 auf die Straße! — Freie Arbeiter*innen-Union.
