It gives us grand delight to inform the sections and friends of ICL that IWW-Wisera (Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland) are now members of the International. In the referendum held last June, ALL sections were in favour of membership. Once again, a consensus was reached and no vote was required!

This new membership strengthens our ties with comrades and fellow workers internationally and, importantly, other anarcho-syndicalist and revolutionary unionists. It is worth stating that the main goals of the ICL and Wisera projects are exactly the same, namely:

“to contribute to deep social and economic transformation worldwide”.

Wisera’s membership to the International will ensure that both organisations remain focused on their project of empowering workers at a grassroots level, while also enabling the co-ordinated use of the weapons at their disposal in the fight against the forces of capitalism.

A representative of Wisera has already joined the Liaison Committee.

The ICL brings together a number of anarcho-syndicalist and revolutionary unions from around the world. It is born out of their desire for closer collaboration and to add an international dimension to their local work, which will allow them to coordinate with comrades around the world and make their struggles visible to a global audience.
